Since the coming of email, a discouraging trend has
occurred. No one writes letters by hand anymore, yet
there are few of us who don't appreciate finding one
in our mailbox.
Try to recall the last letter you wrote to a friend, or loved one...It's been awhile, hasn't it?
Imagine receiving a letter, written on paper, sealed in an envelope and waiting for you at the post office. Someone reaching out to you, with words to make a connection. It's not a bad feeling is it?
A personal letter is just that.
A tangible thing in your hand that says
"" You are important enough to me, to take time out of my day, to gather my thoughts, a pen, paper and envelope and take a few moments to connect with
you."
The cost of a
postage stamp seems very little when you think of it
in that context.
Throughout history, letters have linked us to our past, and led the way to our future.
Not just the letters of Lincoln or Jefferson, but of
average common people who used the written letter to
maintain contact.
After the events of September 11th, isn't it time to make a connection that starts from the heart? You don't have to have beautiful penmanship, or expensive stationery. All that you need is the desire to make that connection.
